The updo is a time honored tradition – no other hairstyle signifies maturity and elegance in the same manner. From the primped and puffed bouffant styles of the Gibson Girl era to the Elnet coated beehives of 60s there is something wonderfully nostalgic about putting ones hair up. The time and energy placed into such carefully orchestrated looks automatically renders them special.
The Lagerfeld variant of the updo (Lagerfeld S/S 09 Hair Slideshow) was one of the strongest hair statements of the season. At the S/S 09 presentation models were adorned with an assortment of glossy black and white hair accessories. From combs with wings to latticework-esque dangling ornaments that dipped low to decorate the nape of the neck, the added decorations were an appealing touch to the already dressy look. Though each comb had a decidedly intricate design the minimal colors made them exceptionally modern and another added bit of visual interest to the already classic package.
